Vertical vs Horizontal Cylindrical Tanks: How to Choose
Union Fiber manufactures GRP/FRP cylindrical tanks in both vertical and horizontal configurations. The right choice depends primarily on your available site space and the application.
Vertical cylindrical tanks
Vertical tanks have a smaller footprint, making them well suited to sites where floor space is limited but overhead clearance is available. They are commonly used where a compact installation area is a priority.
Horizontal cylindrical tanks
Horizontal tanks are often preferred where height restrictions apply, or where the installation needs a lower center of gravity — for example, tanks mounted on skids, in below-grade vaults, or in areas with height clearance limits.
Common ground: durability
Regardless of orientation, both configurations are built from lightweight, modular GRP/FRP construction that resists corrosion and UV degradation, and are engineered for a service life exceeding 25 years with minimal maintenance. They're suitable for water, chemicals and fuel storage across industrial and municipal applications.
