ISO 9001:2015 Explained for Industrial Buyers
ISO 9001:2015 is an internationally recognized quality management system (QMS) standard published by the International Organization for Standardization. It doesn't certify a specific product — it certifies that a company has documented, repeatable processes in place to consistently deliver quality products and services.
What this means for a GRP/FRP manufacturer
For a composite manufacturer, ISO 9001:2015 certification typically covers process areas such as design control, incoming material inspection, in-process quality checks, and corrective action procedures. Union Fiber's quality management procedures are based on ISO 9001:2015 standards, with certification covering design, manufacturing and installation of GRP/FRP products (Certificate No. 210677).
Why it matters when comparing suppliers
When two suppliers offer visually similar products, ISO 9001:2015 certification is one indicator of whether a manufacturer has formal quality control processes — as opposed to relying purely on ad hoc inspection. It's not a guarantee of product performance on its own, which is why we pair it with product-specific certifications like WRAS and SASO for our ZISIF tank.
