GRP Vessels & Scrubbers: The Basics of Industrial Air Pollution Control

"Scrubber" systems are a diverse group of air pollution control devices used to remove particulates and/or gases from industrial exhaust streams. Traditionally, the term has referred to devices that use a liquid to "wash out" acid gases from an exhaust stream — one of the primary methods for controlling gaseous emissions, especially acid gases.

Why GRP is used to build scrubbers

Union Fiber's GRP vessels and scrubbers are built for the corrosive liquids and gases involved in this process. Key properties include:

  • Resistance to corrosion, both internal and external
  • A smooth, non-toxic inner surface
  • Low thermal and electrical conductivity
  • Good weathering properties and long service life
  • Lightweight construction that simplifies handling

Applications

These vessels are used across chemical processing industries, air pollution control systems, and water and wastewater treatment facilities — available in vertical, horizontal and custom designs engineered for extreme chemical loads and pressure conditions.
