Inside a GRP Telecom Tower Camouflage Project

Telecom towers need to be functional first — but in many urban and residential areas, operators and municipalities also want them to be visually unobtrusive. This is where GRP camouflage solutions come in.

Our collaboration with Al Babtain LeBlanc

In collaboration with Al Babtain LeBlanc, Union Fiber has created a range of camouflage solutions tailored for the telecommunications sector. We have successfully designed camouflage options for telecommunications towers and shelters across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.

The critical engineering challenge: RF transmittivity

A camouflage panel is only useful if it doesn't interfere with the very signal the tower is built to transmit. Our camouflage panels have been rigorously tested to confirm their RF transmittivity — meaning the composite material allows radio frequency signals to pass through with minimal interference, while visually integrating the structure into its surroundings.

Why GRP is well suited to this application

GRP's combination of light weight, weather resistance, and radio-frequency transparency (when engineered correctly) makes it a practical material choice for this kind of application, compared to metal cladding solutions which would block or distort transmission.
