FRP Grating Mesh Sizes Explained: Z-25 vs Z-38 vs Z-50
When specifying FRP gratings, mesh size affects both load distribution and open-area (drainage/ventilation) percentage. Union Fiber manufactures three standard mesh types:

Choosing between mesh sizes
Generally, a finer mesh (Z-25) is preferred where foot traffic comfort or smaller dropped-object risk is a concern, while coarser mesh (Z-50) allows greater airflow, drainage or light penetration — often favored for platforms over tanks or open industrial walkways.
Surface finish options
All mesh sizes are available in Gritted Top (maximum slip resistance) or Polished Top Cover finishes, depending on the application and expected foot traffic conditions.
